Shouldn't believe everything you hear from someone you love/like. Most likely whatever he/she said that made you feel like you meant something to them, is probably the same thing they say to the next person. Not saying everything they say is a lie, but everything they say isn't going to be the exact, non-stretched, full truth eiether. Never smart to just think with your heart when it comes to certain things because you'll end up hurt with only yourself to blame for not believing the facts that are right in front of you.
