Gentlemen Of Bacongo: The African Dandies (AMAZING)

This is soooooo amazing to me. Just imagine being apart of a hood but theres no violence, just fashion wars. Tell me thats not official! I think im gonna buy the book if I come across it, if not I'll order it when I get back, it seems really interesting. The fact that theres constant violence and crimes going on around you and all your concerned about is what your wearing today is legit, helps you keep your mind off all the negativity in your life.
"Gentlemen of Bacongo is a new book by photographer, Daniele Tamagni, that “explores the phenomenon of the African sapeurs, a clique of extraordinarily dressed dandies from the Congo. In the midst of war and abject poverty, these men dress in tailored suits, silk ties, and immaculate footwear.” Amazon’s editoral review expands even further. “Designer brands of suits and accessories are of the utmost importance to Sapeurs – Pierre Cardin, Roberto Cavalli, Dior, Fendi, Gaultier, Gucci, Issey Miyake, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Yohji Yamamoto are their patron saints. Unlike some US hip-hop gangs who are dressed in similar fine threads, there is no bloodshed here here your clothes do all the fighting for you, otherwise you are not fit to be called a Sapeur.

Sapeur comes from la SAPE, short for Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes, or the Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People. The SAPE, like any club, has rules of conduct and of dress; it’s centered around Brazzaville and Kinshasa, the adjacent capitals of the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo, respectively.”--Source
